•Emee Baldwin, state pole vaulting champion, has already pole vaulted over the state record this track and field season at 10.4 feet. The record is 10 feet in 1A. But to make it county, the Addison High School senior has to do it during the upcoming state meet.
•The Meek Lady Tigers could not be beat in the Winston County Softball Tournament at Meek High School. They captured the championship title in two days of play, defeating Winston County High School in the final round.
•The Haleyville Lions are headed to the second round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 4A state baseball playoffs after downing the Dora Bulldogs in back-to-back games on Friday, April 20.
•HHS athletes Jared Brimer and J.T. Lollar signed scholarships. Brimer signed with Bevill State to play basketball, while Lollar signed a baseball scholarship with Calhoun.
May
•The Lynn High School Bears captured their back-to-back county baseball championship during the Winston County Baseball Tournament held at Meek High School in Arley.
•The Haleyville Lady Lions captured the 4A Area 11 softball championship on Tuesday, May 1. HHS defeated Winfield in the championship game.
•Haleyville High School pitcher Blake Bennett was named to the 2018 All-Star Sports Week’s North-South boys baseball team as pitcher and outfielder.
•The Addison Lady Bulldogs captured the 1A North Central Regional softball championship in three games May 10-11 at Bowers Park in Tuscaloosa.
•To finish the year in the top four in the state is something to be very proud of and that is exactly what the Haleyville High School golf team did. The five-member team included Baylor Arnold, Jona-than Cagle, Jack Lawson, J.B. Miller and Rob Richards, with their coach Dusty Ball.
June
•Haleyville High School graduate Baylie Sims has signed an academic scholarship with Covenant College, a Christian liberal arts institution in Lookout Mountain, Georgia. She will play for the Lady Scots softball team. Baylie was a member of the HHS Lady Lions softball team, playing first base.
•Haleyville Dixie Youth held its closing ceremonies, honoring league champions and athletes.
•The Haleyville High School baseball team participated in the summer showcase at Spain Park High School. HHS defeated Alexandria and Hoover Orange. They lost to Vestavia Hills and Spain Park.
•Adam Kloffenstein has had a baseball bat in his hand since he was old enough to hold one. Now, at the tender age of 18, he has been drafted to play for the Toronto Blue Jays. He is the grandson of Robert and Joan Dees, of Bear Creek. His parents are John and Renee Kloffenstein, of Houston, Texas.
