Mae Boyles makes a move at the top of the key for the Lady Lions.
HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville Lady Lions fought to the end, but lost 69-63 to the Danville Hawks Monday, Feb. 11, in northwest subregion play. This ended the Lady Lions season with a 14-16 record. The Lady Lions finished with a 10-2 record since Christmas. As area champions, the game was hosted by Haleyville.
Lady Lions head coach Senn Williams commented about the season, “I was really proud of the girls the second half of the season. Our schedule was really tough up front, but the girls always worked hard in practice.
“We got some quality practice in after the Christmas Tournament and that was instrumental to the second half. Defense and rebounding really picked up the second half and that was big for us.”
Stats for the Lady Lions included:
Reagan Kutis 11 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 assists;
Alli Temple 25 points, 11 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 assist;
Molly Gilbert 10 points, 10 rebounds, 1 block, 1 assist;
Madison Caine 2 points;
Catie Aldridge 15 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 assists.
