FAYETTE - Haleyville Lions junior varsity baseball team defeated Fayette County 9-0 on Wednesday, April 10, in Fayette. Two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Camden Smith was the winning pitcher for Haleyville. He lasted two innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out one. Garrett threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Kaleb Garrett struck out a batter to finish off the game.
Haleyville secured the victory thanks to nine runs in the fourth inning. Hayden Tidwell, Gavin West, Josh Weaver, Garrett, and Eli Wakefield all drove in runs in the frame.
The Lions tallied 13 hits in the game. Wakefield, Devan Gravley, and Tidwell all had multiple hits. Tidwell, Gravley, and Wakefield each managed two hits to lead the junior varsity.
