Lady Bulldogs on track for #7; WCHS, Phillips qualify for state tourney

HUNTSVILLE - It was smooth sailing for the feared and revered Addison Lady Bulldogs (47-14). The 2018 2A state volleyball champions won the 2019 north regional tournament Saturday, Oct. 26,  at the Von Braun Center, in Huntsville.
The ladies did not lose a set throughout the tournament. They played against Cold Springs in the first round on Thursday, Oct. 24, winning 25-2, 25-13, 25-6.
In the quarterfinals, Addison blew past Fyffe 25-13, 25-12, 25-15.
Friday saw Addison playing Cedar Bluff in the semi-finals. The Lady Bulldogs won 25-19, 25-6, 25-20.
The Lady Bulldogs strolled through the championship against Sand Rock (36-13) on Saturday, winning 25-14, 25-19, 25-18.
AHS will play Ariton in the opening round of the state playoffs Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the Crossplex in Birmingham. Stats for the Lady Bulldogs include:

The Lady Jackets (23-17) won the first two matches on Thursday to qualify for state.

WCHS opened up Thursday with Southeastern, winning three out of five sets, 25-16, 21-25, 25-20, 19-25, 15-12.
In the second match of the day, Winston County won three out of five again against Ider, 25-22, 24-26, 9-25, 25-22, 15-5.
Sand Rock, who played Addison in the finals, won three straight on Friday in the semi-finals. Winston County also lost to Cedar Bluff in the consolation game. The Lady Jackets will play G.W. Long Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the state tournament.

The Phillips She Bears (30-18) are the 1A Area 14 champions. PHS started Thursday off with a win over Appalachian by three straight sets, 25-22, 25-13, 25-18.
PHS then defeated Mars Hill Bible three sets to one  in the quarterfinals to qualify for state by scores of 16-25, 25-16, 25-11, 25-17.
In the semi-finals on Friday, Athens Bible defeated PHS 27-25, 25-16, 25-17. Phillips also lost the consolation game to Donoho, 22-25, 25-13, 25-18, 25-16.
The She Bears will play Pleasant Home Wednesday at the Crossplex in Birmingham.

The Meek Lady Tigers, 1A Area 12 champions, won their opening round against Falkville in three straight sets, 25-12, 25-8, 25-13.
However, the Lady Tigers lost to Donoho in the second match of the day Thursday, going five set, 25-21, 25-14, 23-25, 21-25, 15-9. This loss eliminated them from competition.
