Haleyville Elementary kindergarten registration April 1

HALEYVILLE - Haleyville City Schools will hold kindergarten registration for the 2020-2021 school year Wednesday, April 1, from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.  Registration will be held in the Haleyville Elementary School library.  Children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2020, and meet Haleyville Board of Education enrollment requirements in order to attend.

Children with last names beginning with A-L should come between 8:30 - 11:30 a.m., and children with last names beginning with M-Z should come between 12-2:30 p.m.  The school system will adjust the schedule to accommodate working parents.

Parents or guardians registering prospective students are encouraged to bring the following:

  • child's birth certificate
  • immunization certificate showing that the child has had all of the required immunizations to begin kindergarten, including D.P.T., polio, measles and mumps.  Alabama state law requires proof of immunizations before a child can enter kindergarten or first grade.
  • social security card
  • proof of residency
  • custody papers (if applicable)
  • driver's license of parent/guardian

A team of HES kindergarten teachers will be administering the HES kindergarten screener to all children who will attend kindergarten in the fall of 2020.  Therefore, it will be necessary to bring the child to registration so the short screening instrument can be administered.  Teachers plan to make this a fun experience for the children.  Parents can help make this a fun day by planning a special outing for their children on that date to make it even more fun.

For more information, please call Haleyville Elementary at 205-486-3405.  It is important that all parents or guardians register eligible children on April 1.

The enrollment of homeless, migratory, immigrant and ELL students will not be denied or delayed in accordance to the Haleyville City School Board's policy.
