Section of 30th Street gets paved

Workers with Central Alabama Paving provide a new surface treatment to a much needed portion of 30th Street Wednesday afternoon.

HALEYVILLE - A section of 30th Street, from Elizabeth Street to Highway 195 was being paved starting Wednesday, April, with plans to be completed within a couple of days, noted Mayor Ken Sunseri.

The paving projects, amounting to approximately $51,000, include that section of 30th Street as well as will include  a portion of 26th Street behind the Lions Den, Mayor Sunseri said. During the time of the resurfacing project on 30th Street, traffic was blocked off from the area of Elizabeth Street to 30th Street. The resufacing treatment should be completed within two days, the mayor reported. Work is being done by Central Alabama Paving of Tuscaloosa.

City Engineer Calvin Cassady is assessing areas in town in need of paving, with other projects to be included in the initial contract, according to Mayor Sunseri.
