William Olen Estes, 79, of Double Springs passed away on December 23, 2017, in Jasper surrounded by his family.
Olen was born on June 21, 1938, in Winfield. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Double Springs and served his country in the United States Army from 1965 – 1967. Olen owned and operated a lawn service in Jasper and Double Springs. He took exceptional pride in his work, never using a riding lawn mower, always using a push mower. Olen took a lot of pride in growing vegetables and giving his bounty away to friends. He loved to can vegetables and make jellies.
Services were conducted on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Double Springs. Brother Adam Veal officiated. Burial was in Walker Memory Gardens in Jasper.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Ann Estes; step daughters, Jennifer Brackin and her husband Mark, and Emily Walker and her husband Mickel; grandchildren, Joseph Williams, Stacy (Bobby) Williams Rodgers and Mary Williams; step grandchildren, Ashley (Casey) Brackin Reed, Samantha Walker, Liz Swinney, Breanna Morris and Isabella Morris; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Austin Estes; mother, Allie Waire Estes Williams; and step-father, Trannie Williams.
The family would like to remember special friends, Jimmy Presley, Larry Latham and Becky Rodicks. Nichols Funeral Home directed the service.
