Haleyville BOE approves tenure, hirings, resignations, transfers

HALEYVILLE - Numerous personnel items were approved by the Haleyville Board of Education Tuesday, May 19, wrapping up what became a tumultuous end of the year, with schools closed since the end of March amid the COVID-19 pandemic. 

During the board's regular meeting the approval of the end-of-the-year personnel list signified school officials are positive about the new school year starting as planned in August and are making sure all personnel items are handled in preparation.

Among that extensive list, tenure or three consecutive years of continuous service status was approved for Whitley Fragale, Emily Kennedy and Toni Rae Sartin at the elementary school;

Dylan Burleson, Alex Fragale and Michelle Rushing at the middle school;

Alyssa Elliott at the high school.

The following  support personnel at the elementary school will be granted non-probationary status: Gina Wilson.

The following support personnel at the high school will receive non-probationary status: Sheila Gamble, Tina Moody and Brenda Scogin.

Adam Knight, support personnel at Haleyville City Schools, was also granted non- probationary status.

The following resignations were approved: Andy Lambert as high school teacher and coach effective May 26; Amber Lambert as middle school teacher effective May 26; Dusty Ball as middle school head boys basketball coach effective April 30; Kasey Sparks as elementary special education teacher effective May 17.

The following personnel were hired during the meeting: Shae Hallman as elementary teacher effective August 3; Madison Rhoades as elementary teacher effective August 3; Connor Lowman as middle school 8th grade math teacher effective August 3; Chris Bunio as middle school 8th grade computer/business teacher effective May 18; Todd McNutt as high school summer school/ACCESS coordinator.

Concerning coaching positions, the board named Dusty Ball as middle school assistant football coach effective May 18; Jeffrey Whitten as high school assistant varsity football coach effective May 18; Alex Fragale as middle school head boys basketball coach effective May 19.

Amy Farris was also named high school majorette sponsor effective May 19.

The following transfers were approved: Renea Allen from middle school teacher of 8th grade computer essentials to high school/center of technology 9th grade BTA teacher effective May 20;

Elaine Frix from elementary school teacher to middle school 6th grade math teacher effective May 19;

Wayne Frazier from middle school 8th grade math teacher to high school in school suspension effective May 20;

Stephanie Lowman from elementary pre-school teacher to elementary teacher effective May 13;

Sheila Sewell from elementary teacher to elementary pre-school teacher effective May 13;

Adam Lawler from high school teacher to middle school STEM teacher effective May 19.

The next regular meeting of the Haleyville BOE will be Tuesday June 23.
