Free State Four Paws wants you to donate your new and used shoes

WINSTON COUNTY - Free State Four Paws, Inc., wants your shoes, and not for the dozens of dogs they rescue and shelter to use as chew toys.
The non-profit is collecting gently worn, used and new shoes throughout the month of July as a fundraiser for micro-enterprises, which take the donated shoes and gives them to small, family-run businesses in primarily third-world countries, where they are repurposed and sold.  The micro-enterprise movement helps many struggling families financially, and also help non-profits such as Free State Four Paws raise much needed money.
Drop-off locations for shoes are set up in the following areas of Winston County:

Arley: Mrs. Smirks, Smith Lake Flea Market & Vintage Mall;
Double Springs: Double Springs Community Center; Gateway Supermarket (use the donation barrel set up at the store);
Haleyville: Kutter’s Salon; Traditions Florist & Gifts; The Dooley House;
Houston: Houston Grocery.

Free State Four Paws volunteers hope to gather 2,500 pairs of shoes during the fundraiser.  The fundraiser will end July 30.
