HALEYVILLE - Educators are fearing that food shortages at school cafeterias, caused by a lack of workers in distribution warehouses and truck drivers transporting goods, may only be the beginning, with the worst yet to come.

WINSTON COUNTY - The process of absentee voting for military personnel started today in preparation for the Nov. 9, special election, which will ask voters to decide whether to renew five mills of property tax benefiting both Winston County and Haleyville City school systems.

WINSTON COUNTY - A resolution passed by the Winston County Commission Monday morning, Aug. 9, means renewing five mills of property tax benefiting both Haleyville City and Winston County schools will now go before county voters to decide in a special election Tuesday, Nov. 9.

Portion of 20th Street at Haleyville Schools to be closed Wednesday for road work
HALEYVILLE- The four way stop area of 20th Street in the area of 20th Avenue between Haleyville High School, middle school and elementary school is scheduled to be closed beginning at 7 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, in order for some minor road work to be done. Teachers, administrators and the general public need to to use caution and avoid this particular area during the closure.
Haleyville School Board approves several retirements
HALEYVILLE - Haleyville City Schools will look a bit different next school year, based on the number of familiar faces who were approved for retirement during the Haleyville City School Board’s meeting April 27.
Projects lined up for HCS
The visitor’s side concession stand and restrooms at Haleyville High School’s football stadium may soon be replaced with a larger multi-purpose building. This is one of several capital improvement projects being discussed for the school system.
HALEYVILLE - Although Haleyville City Schools has several building projects in the works and also has decisions pending regarding hires, officials assure that projects are being done one-at-a time and decisions are being made regarding the financial best interest of the system as a whole.
