Haleyville varsity girls are 4A Area 11 champions


The Haleyville High School Lady Lions defeated Curry Thursday, Feb. 7, to win the 4A Area 11 championship at Curry High School. Team members are: Mae Boyles, Kaytee Boyles, McKenzee Reid, Madison Caine, Emma Nethery, Tesley Callahan, Ana Aaron. Back row: assistant coaches Andy Lambert and Kristi Ward, team members Ashton McCullar, Catie Aldridge, Reagan Kutis, Molly Gilbert, Kaitlyn Mobley, Marina Ortega, Alli Temple and head coach Senn Williams.

CURRY - With about 50 seconds left on the clock, the Curry Yellow Jackets tied the game at 38-38 to send them and the Haleyville Lions into overtime Thursday, Feb. 7, during the championship game.
Played at Curry High School, the Lions pulled out the OT win 49-42. Haleyville  hosted the subregion game  Tuesday, Feb. 12, against St. Paul John II.
Grayson Long and Clay Blanton were named to the All Tournament team.

HHS nets wins over Aggies and Curry


It’s up and over for Madison Caine for the HHS Lady Lions.

HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville Lady Lions volleyball team, dres-sed in pink jerseys in recognition of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, defeated Hamilton Thursday, Oct. 9,  in two straight games, 25-20, 25-11, but fell to Carbon Hill 25-7, 25-18. Carbon Hill also beat Hamilton in the tri-match.  The Lady Lions hosted the matches.
Haleyville also hos-ted Curry on Thursday, Oct. 11, defeating the Lady Jackets 25-22, 25-17 and 25-23. The Lady Yellow Jackets won one game 25-16.

RUSSELLVILLE - The Haleyville Lady Lions varsity volleyball team pounded out a win over the Russellville Lady Tigers Thursday, Aug. 30.
Playing in the Russellville Middle School gymnasium, the Lady Tigers won the first game 25-18. But it was the Lady Lions from there on out.  Coached by Brent McCoy and Abby Huff, Haleyville won 25-14, 25-16 and 25-15.
The Lady Lions JV team lost to Russellville 25-21 and 25-20. It was reported the eighth grade team won and seventh grade team lost.

Lady Lions Softball wins with walk off two run homer by Aaron


Ana Aaron was declared the winning pitcher Tuesday night after she hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Lady Lions a 9-7 victory..

The Lady Lions softball team took a 9-7 win over the Carbon Hill Lady Bulldogs Tuesday, March 6. Tied 7-7 in the bottom of the 7th with two outs, pitcher Ana Aaron stepped up to the plate and knocked a two run homer for the left field fence for the victory.
