BANKHEAD NATIONAL FOREST - Wild Alabama will log some miles toward the 100 Alabama Miles Challenge with a stewardship hike in the Sipsey Wilderness on Saturday, April 26, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The 100 Alabama Miles Challenge is a statewide program that challenges Alabamians to walk, run, hike, bike, swim, paddle ride or roll 100 miles each year and to do so by visiting Alabama’s many parks, nature preserves and rivers.

The challenge can be accomplished by moving just two miles each week.

BANKHEAD NATIONAL FOREST - There will be Traditional Tools workdays in the Sipsey Wilderness on Tuesday, April 8, Saturday, April 12, and Thursday, April 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

BANKHEAD NATIONAL FOREST - Wild Alabama invites volunteers to work on the repair and restoration of Sipsey Wilderness trails during any of three Legacy Trails workdays that still have openings this month. The workdays on Friday, April 4, and Tuesday, April 29, will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and will be led by Lindsay Madison. The Wednesday, April 16, workday led by Morgan (no last name available) will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

BANKHEAD NATIONAL FOREST - Wild Alabama will lead two nature hikes into the Sipsey Wilderness this month to view rock formations that are revealed when the leaves are off the trees The hikes will be Thursday, Jan. 16, and Thursday, Jan. 30.
