DOUBLE SPRINGS - The fairness of salaries between elementary, middle and high school-level principals sparked much discussion and even disagreement at a Winston County Board of Education work session Tuesday, July 18.

DOUBLE SPRINGS - The Winston County Board of Education has been cited by auditors for two instances where funds were not spent and filed correctly.

WCHS facing major staff changes

DOUBLE SPRINGS - Major personnel changes are taking place at Winston County High School ahead of the new school year starting for students on Aug. 7, when students will see a new teacher in the auto technology department as well as new faces in the positions of head football coach and band director.

DOUBLE SPRINGS - A drop in enrollment at both Winston County High School and Double Springs Middle School means the assistant principal position at each school for the 2023-2024 school year has been eliminated.

Recent business of the Lynn Town Council

LYNN - Those getting copies of reports or photos from Lynn Police Department will now pay a fee, after the Lynn Town Council passed a resolution to that effect at the request of Police Chief Bryan Kirkpatrick in October.

In other news, some Lynn residents will be able to sign up for Charter internet, phone, TV and mobile services at some point...

WINSTON COUNTY - The Winston County Board of Education’s long-awaited action to sell a portion of 16th section property that’s been in their control, but lying dormant in the Houston area means a financial benefit to the school district in the form of interest and eventually property taxes providing benefits across the county.
