Suspect in Tuesday's officer shooting and standoff dead
DOUBLE SPRINGS - Jeffery Lee Adair, the suspect in the shooting of a Double Springs Police Department officer and ensuing standoff, has reportedly died at the Winston County Jail, where he was being held. No further details regarding his death have been released at this time.
At the Winston County Sheriff's Office's request, the State Bureau of Investigation will be handling the investigation into Adair's death, Winston County Sheriff Caleb Snoddy stated.

DOUBLE SPRINGS - Double Springs Town Council Member Bill Hawkins passed away Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Hendrix Health & Rehab. He was 76. The Alabamian will have much more, including a tribute to Mr. Hawkins, in the March 4, edition.
