BIRMINGHAM - Addison High School’s Lady Bulldogs posted a 25-17, 25-17, 25-19 victory over Orange Beach High School Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Bill Harris Arena in Birmingham to claim the school’s 13th state title at the Alabama High School Athletic Association's 51st State Volleyball Championships. The Makos were playing in their first final.
The Bulldogs (48-6) of Coach Kaydi Woodard were paced by senior Addisyn Smothers, who delivered 20 kills and added eight digs to earn MVP honors for the second year in a row. Dacey Baker had seven kills, setter Gracie Manley dished out 34 assists and Hadley Butler had 12 digs. Baker and Manley also made the Class 2A All-Tourney Team.
Orange Beach (30-17), coached by Jackie Arnold, was led by Hannah Marsh, who had 11 kills and nine digs; Ensley Keel with 25 assists and eight digs and Amelia Edgeworth with six kills and eight digs. She also had two service aces.
