5K and Fun Run/Walk to be held April 9

The eleventh annual M.Y. Hero 5K/1 Mile and Fun Run/Walk will start at the old Gateway parking lot in Double Springs, rain or shine, on Saturday, April 9. The event is a fundraiser for the Martin Young Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to two Winston County High School seniors each year.

Registration for the 5K is $25, which includes a T-shirt. Registration for the Fun Run/Walk is $10 or $20 with a T-shirt. T-shirts and goody bags are guaranteed for the first 50 runners to register.

To pre-register, download the registration form below, fill it out and mail it with your entry fee to M.Y. Hero Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Michelle Ward, P.O. Box 1243, Double Springs, Ala., 35553. The fee must be received with the form.

On the day of the race, registration will be from 7:00-7:45 a.m. The 5K will start at 8 a.m. and the Fun Run/Walk at 8:45 a.m. The awards ceremony will be at 9:30 a.m., and medals will be awarded to overall first place male and female winners and to first, second and third place winners in all seven age divisions. Participants may also win door prizes.
