LAND-FOR-LAND EXCHANGE
Notice is hereby given that the Forest Service (FS), United States Department of Agriculture, is considering an exchange of land with Steve and Cindy Jones under the authority of the Weeks Law of March 1, 1911 and the Federal Land Policy and Management Act. The lands under the jurisdiction of the FS that are being considered for exchange are described as:

Commencing at the Northeast corner of the Northwest ¼ of the Southeast ¼, being marked by an existing aluminum monument, run South 00°30’36” East and 911.74 feet along the east boundary of said Northwest ¼ of the Southeast ¼ to the Point of Beginning (POB), being the Northeast corner of the parcel, and being marked by an aluminum monument; thence continue along said boundary South 00°30’36” East and 390.67 feet to the Southeast corner of the Northwest ¼ of the Southeast ¼, being marked by an existing aluminum monument; thence North 88°38’59” West and 1315.04 feet along the south boundary of said Northwest ¼ of Southeast ¼ to the Southwest corner of the parcel, being marked by an existing aluminum monument; thence North 00°27’56” West and 390.66 feet along the west boundary of said Northwest ¼ of the Southeast ¼ to the Northwest corner of the parcel, being marked by an aluminum monument; thence South 88°38’59” East and 1314.74 feet to the northeast corner of the parcel also being the Point of Beginning, containing 11.79 acres.

A portion of the NE ¼ NW ¼ Section 24, T10S, R8W, Huntsville Meridian, more particularly described as follows: Begin at the northeast corner of said NE ¼ NW ¼, said point being an aluminum Forest Service monument, and run S 01°41’59”W, along the east boundary of said NE ¼ NW ¼, a distance of 605.34’ more or less, to a point of intersection with said east ¼-¼ boundary and the 510 contour line of the Sipsey Fork of the Lewis Smith Lake; thence in a westerly-northwesterly direction along the 510 contour line of the Lewis Smith Lake, a distance of 1,623.7’ more or less, to the point of intersection with the said 510 contour line and the north boundary of said NE ¼ NW ¼; thence S 89°51’42”E, leaving said 510 contour line of Lewis Smith Lake, a distance of 544.63’, to the point of beginning.

A portion of SE ¼ SE ¼ Section 11, T10S, R8W, Huntsville Meridian, more particularly described as follows: Commence at the northeast corner of said SE ¼ SE ¼, said point being a 6” concrete monument, and run N 89°34’59”W, along the north boundary of said SE ¼ SE ¼, a distance of 793.04’ to a point of intersection with the said north boundary of said SE ¼ SE ¼ and the 510 contour line of Lewis Smith Lake, to the point of beginning; thence continue along the said north boundary of said SE ¼ SE ¼ and leaving said 510 contour line, distance of 370.46’, to the point of intersection with said north boundary of the SE ¼ SE ¼ and said 510 contour line of Lewis Smith Lake; thence leaving said north ¼-¼ line and in an east-southeasterly direction along the said 510 contour line of Lewis Smith Lake, a distance of 379.34’+/-, to the point of beginning.
The Forest Service proposes to acquire land with 0 acres of floodplains and 2.35 acres of wetlands. The federal tracts proposed for exchange has 3.3 acres of floodplains and 4.43 acres of wetlands.
Any or all of the above-described lands may be exchanged if the values are equal. If the values are unequal, either party may equalize values by making a cash payment, not to exceed 25 percent of the value of the lands transferred out of Federal ownership.
Persons claiming such properties or having valid objections to this proposed exchange must file their claims or objections with the Forest Supervisor, Cherie Hamilton, Montgomery, AL 36107, within 45 days after the initial date of publication of this notice.
