Tickets for Haleyville Alumni luncheon now available

The Haleyville Alumni Luncheon is quickly approaching. Here is a photo from the 2017 luncheon featuring the Haleyville High School Class of 1967, celebrating 50 years last year.
HALEYVILLE - Although the 50th anniversary of the nation’s first emergency 9-1-1 call will be drawing the largest ever crowd expected at the Haleyville 9-1-1 Festival the first weekend in June, other crowds will be gathering for the annual alumni activities. Debbie Wood, Haleyville High School Class of 1974, and President of the Haleyville Alumni Association, is extending a warm invitation for all alumni to come home for the alumni festivities scheduled Saturday, June 2. The alumni activities will begin with a parade with lineup set 9 a.m. in the parking lot of Haleyville Elementary School. All alumni classes should be onboard their floats ready to leave at 9:40 a.m., since the parade will pull out from the school sharply at 9:50 a.m., and because the parade will feature not only class floats but also all forms of emergency responder vehicles that will be lining up in the parking lot of the high school. The parade will join the band at CVS at the intersection of 20th Street and Highway 195. The parade route will travel through downtown going down 19th Street to Alabama Avenue and crossing over to 21st Street, where it will go by KFC and McDonald’s and continue on straight on Highway 195 to where it will turn right at the Chevron and travel back to the school. The band will leave the parade as it passes First Baptist Church. Following the parade, alumni will gather at the elementary school for the luncheon held at the cafetorium. Tickets to the luncheon are $15 and includ barbecue lunch with all the trimmings. Tickets may be purchased by mailing a check to Haleyville Alumni Association, P.O. Box 91, Haleyville, Al. 35565 Tickets can also be purchased at the downtown location of Traders and Farmers Bank. Tickets must be purchased in advance or by calling the bank and having them to hold a ticket that can be picked up at the Will Call table at the luncheon, Wood noted. If this is the case, the bank’s number is 205-486-5263. Tickets will NOT be sold the day of the luncheon. The last day to purchase tickets will be on noon Friday, June 1, Wood reminded. “We are excited to see all of you again at the luncheon,” Wood stated. “If you are an anniversary class and would like to make sure there are enough chairs available for your class, please send a private message to us and will do our best to accommodate your request. “On behalf of this year’s officers, we extend to you and your family a warm welcome as you return to your alma mater,” Wood added.
