Baggett named District VFW Teacher of the Year

Dwight Thomas, post commander for Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4543, had some special recognition at the Haleyville Board of Education's regular meeting Tuesday, May 22, for two teachers who were first place district award winners as VFW Teachers of the Year under the Smart/Maher Citizenship Education Award. Qualifications under the award was to teach programs and lessons focusing on Americanism, citizenship and patriotism to their students in the classroom and at the school in general. One of the teachers receiving first place in the district was Sheynon Baggett Loden for grades kindergarten through 5th grade, by receiving a certificate and check for professional development expenses.
