Columbus Day closings

Monday, Oct. 12, is Columbus Day, which means many different entities will be closed.
All federal, state, county and municipal offices will be closed  Monday, for the holiday.  While county offices will be closed, Winston County garbage routes will be run as normal, according to the Winston County Sanitation Office.
That will not be the case in Haleyville.  The Street and Sanitation Department will be closed Monday for the holiday.  Therefore, there will be no trash collection in Haleyville on Monday.  Monday’s route will be collected on Tuesday, Oct. 13, along with the regular Tuesday route.
In addition to government offices, the U.S. Postal Service will be closed Monday, so there will be no mail delivery.  All financial institutions will be closed, as well.
Haleyville City Schools will be closed Monday, with teachers using the day for professional development or a flex day.   Marion County Schools will also be closed for students on Monday. Winston County Schools, however, will be holding classes Monday.  Community colleges will also be open for class on Monday.
