Mervin "Merv" Elehiu Amick, 70, of Crane Hill, entered into rest on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Hanceville Nursing & Rehab.
Merv was born on November 21, 1948 in Cullman County. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years. He attended Jefferson State Jr. College and Montevallo College. Merv began his work career in the late sixties with Bellsouth and continued in telecommunications until he retired. He had such an infectious laugh. He loved life and lived each day to the fullest.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at noon at Houston Baptist Church. Brothers Kenny Sudduth and Samuel Tucker will officiate.
Merv is survived by his sons, Edward Christian Amick and his wife Samantha, and Kevin Bartley Amick; mother, Doris Amick; brothers, Gregary Lacy Amick and his wife Kelly, and Kevin Lacy Amick and his wife Debbie; sisters, Phyllis Amick Kent, and Monica Amick Kugler and her husband Keith; and two grandchildren, Molly and Addison Amick.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lacy E. Amick, and mother, Evelyn Capps.
Special thanks to Woody Everett and Patty Nail for the tender care given during their months with him, and also to his nurse, Jeremy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to Kindred Hospice.
