Addison Elementary bringing “Shrek the Musical KIDS” to Looney’s May 8-9

LAKESHORE - The saying Beauty is in the Eye of the Ogre will be brought to the stage on Friday, May 8, and Saturday, May 9, when Addison Elementary students will perform the play Shrek The Musical KIDS at the Dual Destiny theater at the Looney’s complex.

LAKESHORE - Claims of delays in emergency notifications from the Winston County E-9-1-1 office to county firefighters were addressed during the October 21, county firefighters association meeting, also attended by E-9-1-1 board members and dispatchers.
Inaugural Bluegrass Festival at Looney’s this Saturday

DOUBLE SPRINGS - There will be pickers and grinners coming from across the southeast to attend Winston County’s first Bluegrass Festival at Looney’s Amphitheater Complex this Saturday, Nov. 2, benefiting the Winston County Arts Council.

LAKESHORE - An interesting project, called the “Twins” Project, is developing right now at Looney’s Amphitheater Complex and Cultural Center as part of Winston County Arts Council’s renovation of the 13-acre property.
Looney’s receives $850,000 grant

LAKESHORE - The mission of getting state funds into rural Alabama is literally paying off a big way, with state legislators going to bat for Winston County, securing nearly $2 million from the Education Trust Fund for two major projects related to education and tourism.

LAKESHORE - The goal of funding announcements - both recently and forthcoming - for the Looney’s Amphitheater and Culture Center, is to focus on relieving debt incurred from renovations, so the focus can be on art-related programs and services for the county and area.
Looney’s complex not closing

LAKESHORE - Although the remaining shows in the summer concert series at the Looney’s Amphitheater and Culture Center, have been cancelled after this weekend, events, plans and renovations at the complex continue to thrive, assure members of the Winston County Arts Council.
“The main thing behind the decision is economics,” pointed out Bart Crabtree, owner of Sipsey Entertainment, a company he created to provide a series of concerts featuring tribute artists for a wide range of hitmakers, including Pat Benatar, Heart, Journey and Rascal Flatts.
Dual Destiny opens Friday
WINSTON COUNTY - Winston County is being put back on the map in a big way, with a focus on tourism, thanks to the recent Pitching for Promotion Dollars contest sponsored by the Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourism Association.
