Support for hospital hot topic at council meeting

HALEYVILLE - Following a mixed vote from the Haleyville City Council Tuesday, Feb. 17, on giving Lakeland Community Hospital $109,000 in money not to be repaid, several residents from an overflowing crowd addressed the council, claiming lack of city support for the hospital.

HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville City Council has voted to acquire a vacant Main Street building, with plans of turning the facility into a public meeting area or welcome center, pending the completion of a drainage improvement project.

Haleyville Airport to house equipment, host employees, for federal project

HALEYVILLE - The agreement reached between the City of Haleyville and Arctic Shark-- which will soon conduct a drone data collection program through the U.S. Department of Energy--for the use of the Posey Field airport, will hopefully draw some much-needed publicity to the airport, officials said.

HALEYVILLE - The topic of homeless people in Haleyville once again came before the Haleyville City Council, this time with a plea for unity.

HALEYVILLE - The issue of free internet access attracting people to downtown Haleyville to hang out, including persons who are possibly using drugs or are homeless, was brought to the ears of the Haleyville City Council by concerned residents Sept. 5.
