New business bringing jobs to Haleyville

HALEYVILLE - A major step has been taken to create more local jobs, with the Haleyville City Council awarding the sale of surplus property so a new distribution business for Fontaine Trailer Company and Transcraft can be constructed.

HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville City Council began the new year somberly Jan. 3, with members expressing their sadness over a fire earlier that morning that killed a mother and her two children.

Dr. Ray Boshell appointed to Haleyville City Council

HALEYVILLE - Dr. Ray Boshell was appointed to the Haleyville City Council for Place 4 during a swearing-in ceremony Monday, Oct. 27.
Boshell, who served as Haleyville's mayor from 1996-2000, is filling the seat vacated by Jonathan Bennett, who resigned after moving outside the Haleyville city limits.

 

Tax abatement rescinded

HALEYVILLE - A tax abatement the Haleyville City Council approved in early August for Sparks Properties LLC has now been rescinded, after it was learned that the property’s owner has been convicted of fraud.
