School and community join together to support fifth grader

HALEYVILLE - Haleyville City Schools, along with the entire community, is wrapping their loving arms and hearts around the struggles of 10-year-old Maddie Bishop--who found out in early April that she is battling stage 4 Ewing’s Sarcoma cancer that has spread into her lungs.

James Spann visits Haleyville Elementary for program

Second grade students are intensley watching the screen as James Spann shows the weather balloons sent into the atmosphere daily for weather reports.

HALEYVILLE - The Weather Man himself showed up at Haleyville Elementary School Thursday, Jan. 16, while the second graders were studying weather. Meteorologist James Spann from the ABC network in Birmingham gave a program on the state of weather in Alabama and in general.

HALEYVILLE - One could say that Haleyville Elementary Principal Christy Bice got all wrapped up in the reptile show held Wednesday, Feb. 26, when she got to meet a large python literally face to face.

Haleyville Elementary encourages parents to wash supplies

HALEYVILLE - Haleyville Elementary School is encouraging parents to sanitize their children's school supplies, such as backpacks, lunchboxes and other items before returning to school. HES will be off Thursday and Friday, Jan. 30-31, due to flu and strep.

HALEYVILLE - As a new school year starts for Haleyville City Schools on Thursday, Aug. 8, the community needs to be reminded of parking situations, drop-off locations and schedules, in order to keep the traffic flowing smoothly, especially during the first few days of school.
