Family in need of assistance after house fire near Natural Bridge

Firefighters prepare to go back to what's left of James Harper's residence and check for hot spots after battling a blaze at the home.

NATURAL BRIDGE - A man and his son are in need of assistance after losing virtually everything in a house fire Thursday morning, March 30.

James Harper and his 22-year-old son, Elijah Harper, are starting over after their home on County Road 3501 burned.  Elijah was not home at the time of the blaze, and James narrowly escaped the fire, which reportedly began in the living room area.

The Lynn Fire Department responded with two trucks and manpower and were joined by the Delmar Fire Department, which provided manpower.  Firefighters were on scene for several hours extinguishing the blaze, then checking for hot spots.

The Community B's, which serve as the auxiliary for the Lynn Fire Department, provided assistance and support on the scene to Harper and to the firefighters.

To help the Harpers, please call James' father, Thomas Harper Jr., at (205) 269-2267 or Lynn Town Hall at (205) 893-5250.  All help is most sincerely appreciated.
