Vera Jean Wilson, 88, of Houston, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. She was born on November 26, 1934 in the Moreland community to Hoston Cochran and Mattie Riddle Gray. She was a member of Houston Baptist Church,
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 12:30-2 p.m. at Houston Baptist Church, where her funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Houston Community Cemetery. Nichols Funeral Home will direct. Brother Donnie Carroll, Brother Mike Walker and Brother Kenny Sudduth will officiate. Pallbearers will include Wes Willingham, Bryan Woods, Jeff Scott, Randy Riddle, Dale Hendrix and Tony Ellis.
Vera is survived by her two daughters, Donna Gunnin and her husband Jeff and Pam Willingham and her husband Roger; two grandchildren, Wes Willingham and his wife Kim and Jessy Woods and her husband Bryan; two great-grandchildren; Rheagan and Peyton Holland; special family members, Donna Gray Clark and Sharon Abbott Cagle and special caregiver, Tammy Hulsey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wilson; grandson, Will Gunnin; siblings, Ruby Tidwell, Vernon Gray and Lois Oliver; her father, Hoston Cochran and her mother, Mattie Riddle Gray.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Southeast Hospice of Jasper and special nurse, Kayla, for all the care they have provided during this time of transition.
