HALEYVILLE - It’s a sign of the season and a reminder that there are persons in need all around us.
The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign will kick off in Haleyville on Friday, Nov. 24, the day after Thanksgiving. Valeria Taylor, a volunteer with the Salvation Army program in Haleyville, stated that the kettle will once again be set up near the entrance of Walmart on Highway 195, with the campaign running through Christmas Eve, which this year will be Sunday, Dec. 24.
There is always a need for volunteers to come out to ring the bell and help collect donations. Taylor is asking anyone who would like to volunteer to contact her at (205) 486-0792.
“We look forward to a big year,” Taylor said. “The monies collected are allocated for the Winston County area.”
The funds go toward helping those facing financial hardships such as buying food and clothing, as well as helping those displaced by disasters such as storms and fire, officials said.
