As a child, while Mike’s dad served as Winston County Sheriff, Mike would spend much of his childhood roaming the courthouse halls. Oh, the stories he had to tell. Mike was a 1974 graduate of Winston County High School. During his high school years, he proudly wore #55 for the Winston County Yellow Jackets football team. After high school, Mike spent 26 years traveling to Louisiana as a foreman on an offshore oil rig in the Gulf of America. After retirement, Mike enjoyed deer hunting, dove hunting, watching Alabama football, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Most of all, he enjoyed having his family come to his pool all summer long. Mike was also a member of the Winston County Sports Hall of Fame, being inducted alongside his son, Zeb, and most recently, his granddaughter, Lynleigh Cobb, inducted as well. Mike married Leah Knowles Cobb on November 27, 1983, and they were married for 43 years.
