Bettye Vann Knight

Bettye Vann Knight went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, where she joined her beloved husband, Billy Gene Knight.   Her visitation will be Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, from 6-8 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home in Athens. Her graveside service was held Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, at Winston Memorial Cemetery.  Spry Funeral Home of Athens directed.
In life, Bettye served her community in Haleyville and Athens through her work and through her church.  She was a thoughtful friend and neighbor, enjoyed helping those in need, and she was a prayer warrior for many.  She taught Sunday School in Haleyville at First United Methodist Church and believed in setting a Christian example for all of those around her.  She was a lover of birds, flowers, reading and letter writing.  She will be missed by her family and friends, but she’s now in Heaven, a place she dreamed of her entire life.
Bettye was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Lester Vann; a brother, Sam Vann and a sister, Elizabeth Higdon.
She is survived by her son, Wade (Beth) Knight, Athens, and her daughter, Karen (Mike) Scott, Knoxville, Tenn.  Bettye is also survived by five grandchildren, Candace (Caleb) Beckner, Knoxville; Tyler Scott, Raleigh, N.C.; Alana (Matt) Coker, Huntsville; CW Knight, Athens and Hallie (Graham Smith, fiance) Knight, Jackson, Tenn.  She is also survived by one great-granddaughter, Daisy Beckner; one sister, Carolyn Vann; several nieces and nephews and two very special friends, Nancy Cook and Beth Presnell.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
