Knight to play volleyball at BSCC-Fayette

LYNN - Danielle Knight’s cake at her recent letter of intent signing said “Once a Bear, always a Bear.”  Knight just received her diploma from Lynn High School about two weeks ago and now will be playing volleyball at Bevill State Community College in Fayette for those Lady Bears.
The multi-sport lettered athlete signed a letter of intent recently in the LHS gym with family and friends in attendance. Knight lettered in volleyball, basketball, softball and track for the LHS Lady Bears.
Knight will be attending Bevill on a career technical honors scholarship, but she tried out for the volleyball team and made it. Danielle will play the setter position. She will be joining Lexie Dishner and Amber Markham, from Phillips High School in Bear Creek, who were She Bears at PHS.
The daughter of Bobby and Janet Knight, of Nauvoo, Danielle also received the Matthew Finley Memorial Scholarship and the American Legion Post 464 scholarship at the senior awards presentations.
While playing volleyball at LHS, Knight had 12 aces, 10 kills, 105 digs and 540 attempts at digs her junior year and 19 aces, 27 kills, 463 assists and 114 digs her senior year. She was named to the All County volleyball team, All Conference, All Area, Northwest Alabamian All-Star Team and named captain. She was named All-Conference in basketball, as well.
She was a member of the Beta Club, Key Club treasurer, L-Club, volleyball, basketball, softball and track teams and Educational Talent Search.
Danielle commented about the  new chapter in her life, “I am very excited. I have played ball for six years, so I am looking forward to playing volleyball at Bevill. I want to thank my parents and my coaches for always pushing me to be the best I can. I want to say thank you to my teammates for always having my back.”
Knight’s volleyball coach, Amanda Brown, comment-ed, “Danielle is a leader on and off the floor. She is one of those kids who always is pushing the person beside her and I am excited she is going to get the opportunity to continue to play a sport that she loves.
“Once a Bear, always a Bear. She will continue to be a Bear at Bevill State and I am excited for her.”
LHS Principal Todd Tittle added, “We are really excited for Danielle. We are happy anytime that our students get an opportunity to further their education. Any level of athletics you play is a tremendous commitment. We hope the best for her and that she has a great career.”
Knight plans to major in dental hygiene.
