HALEYVILLE - It is time once again to honor the inductees for the Winston County Sports Hall of Fame. The dinner will be Saturday, July 20, at 5:30 p.m., at the Haleyville Elementary School.
Tickets are $20 per person for the steak dinner and available at branch offices of Traders and Farmers Bank. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
Tony Giles is the “Voice of the Crimson Tide” at Bryant-Denny Stadium and Coleman Coliseum, will be the master of ceremonies. He is a vice president and financial adviser at Morgan Stanley, with many of his weekends and weeknights devoted to stadium announcing for football, gymnastics and men’s basketball at The University of Alabama.
The keynote speaker will be Tyler Watts, former Alabama quarterback.

Destiny Walker, a 2019 graduate of Addison High School has been awarded the female Academic/Athlete honor this year.
She has participated in volleyball (2013-19); basketball (2014-19); softball (2013-19); track (2013-2019).
In volleyball, Walker had the best passing percentage, best serving percentage, team captain and most valuable player in 2015. The next year, she earned the most aces and most kills honors. In 2017, Walker was named All-County and was a member of the state championship volleyball teams in 2016-18. Her senior year, Walker was named the MVP, most aces and most digs.
The honors continued in basketball. She was named most improved in 2017 and received the sharpshooter award and best 3-point percentage. She was named all county, all area in 2018-19, Eagle Elite (2018), Cullman Times Honorable Mention (2019), captain (2019), best free throw percentage (2019), most points per game (2019), subregion team (2017-19).
Softball - All County (2017 & 2019), most valuable outfielder (2017), best base runner (2017), most valuable infielder (2018-19), all area (2018), final four team (2018), best batting average (2018-19), captain (2019).
Track - 4x100m relay state runner-up (2016), 4x100m relay county champion (2016-19), county long jump champion (2017-19), 100m dash champion at county (2019), county pole vault third (2018), sectional long jump champion (2016-18), sectional 200m dash winner (2018), fourth in state long jump (2019), co-MVP (2019).
Walker was also a Bryant-Jordan nominee in 2018-19.
Gage Gilliland, of Addison, was named the male 2018-19 academic/athlete honoree.
He participated in football six years, basketball and baseball, five years.
In football, he was team captain twice, all area and all county three times, defensive MVP, Daily Mountain Eagle player of the week.
Basketball - team captain twice and hustle award;
Baseball - All County twice, defensive MVP, team captain twice, most RBIs and Encore athlete of the month.
Demica Cleghorn is a Winston County Sports Hall of Fame honoree from Addison. She participated in track from 1991-95, softball 1991-96, volleyball 1990-96, basketball 1991-95.
Her honors include all county volleyball three years, all area volleyball three years, defensive most valuable player volleyball four years, volleyball captain two years; Northwest Alabamian all-star volleyball two years, softball all county three years, softball all section three years, softball defensive MVP four years, captain two years, NWA all-star softball three years, second state honorable mention softball one year.
Allen Long, of Addison, participated in baseball from 1998-2002, basketball 1998-2002, football 1998-2001, track 1997-2002.

Basketball - all area, all county;
Football - 1998-1999 all area, 1999 all county and honorable mention, 2000 all region, all county, all state, 2001 all region, all county, all state.
Kayla Woodard, of Addison, played volleyball from 2001-06, basketball 2001-07, softball 2002-07, track 2002-07.
She was a member of the state volleyball champions 2003-05 and was on the 2006 state runner-up team.
She competed at state all six years. In track, she received two silver and one bronze in the 4x100.
Woodard played four years at Mississippi State on a volleyball scholarship. She was an academic all american and SEC player of the week.
The late Will Gunnin will be honored as a Special Category recipient. He was a sophomore at Addison High School at the time of his death in November 2016. His father, Jeff, will be presented Will’s plaque.
Will participated four years in baseball and football, three years in basketball, bass fishing team one year and skeet shooting six years.
His honors include Encore athlete of the month as a sophomore, 7th grade - best batting average on the junior high baseball team; 8th grade - most valuable defense, jr. varsity football; 9th grade - baseball captain - junior high, voted permanent team captain; 2014 AL Sports Festival first place and gold medal in skeet with overall score totaling 85 out of 100; 2016 Cullman Times all area football team honorable mention, 2016 NWA all star football team - offensive lineman, 2016 Daily Mountain Eagle-Eagle Elite first team offensive lineman.
