Troy Melvin Ellis

Troy Melvin Ellis, 59, of Addison, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, at Brookwood Medical Center.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, from 1-2 p.m. at Addison Church of God, where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Pastor Rodney Ridgeway and Brother Mackey Watts will officiate. Nichols Funeral Home directing.

Troy was born on Nov. 28, 1958, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He attended Addison High School. Among his favorite past times were hunting and fishing, but he also enjoyed summers on the lake and spending time with his grandchildren.  He loved talking to people and never met a stranger.

Troy is survived by his wife of 30 years, Tammy Allcorn Ellis; mother, Kathaleen Brannon Ellis; son, Jonathon Reed (Jennifer Lee) Ellis; daughters, Jessica (Nick) Blackwood, Erica (Brian) Patterson, and Kelita (Kevin) Cox; brothers, Allan (Mary) Ellis and Joe  (Sherry) Cox; sisters, Kathy Jensen, Tammie (Keith) Bowling and Kittie Lynn Midkiff. He was "Papa Troy" to seven grandchildren, Colorado, Danner, Ryan, Gage, Scott, Christian and Savanah. He is also survived by a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Ellis; grandparents, Clifford and Mamie Brannon, Troy Ellis and Eva Ellis Denson.
