McCollum, Blackwood recognized by AHSAA as top performers

MONTGOMERY - Phillips High School volleyball standout Ally McCollum and Winston County High School all star Mackenzie Blackwood have been recognized as a top performer by the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s Volleyball Sportlight.

McCollum had 61 kills and seven blocks to spark the Bears (19-14) to the championship of the Marion County Tournament.

Phillips beat Hackleburg twice and Meek in regular season play and then beat Marion County twice, Hackleburg, Hamilton and Winfield twice for the title after losing to the Pirates earlier in the tournament.
 Blackwood had 132 kills, 19 service aces and 54 digs as the Yellow Jackets went 7-2 for the week.
