TUSCUMBIA - Take a walk on the wild side and enjoy some good old-fashioned food, fun and fellowship at an Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF) Quad Cities’ Wild Game Cook-Off!
Talented local cook teams will bring their best recipes of wild game, fish and fowl on Saturday, March 14, at 4 p.m. the Longhorn Arena in Tuscumbia.
Cook teams are needed, so fire up your grills and get ready to battle with some of the best backyard chefs from the Quad Cities'area. If you think you have what it takes, entry for the cook teams is free, but teams must pre-register prior to the day of the event at www.alabamawildlife.org.
Trophies will be awarded to first through third place in fish, fowl and game, as well as Best Overall, Best Presentation and People’s Choice, presented by the Alabama Army National Guard. The overall winner will be invited to the state finals held at Lanark in Millbrook on August 8, to compete for the title of AWF 2020 Wild Game Cook-Off State Champion.
However, if cooking isn’t your thing, come taste some mouthwatering dishes, some of which may include venison, duck, wild boar, fish, shrimp and so much more. This event is the perfect opportunity for sportsmen and women and outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy! AWF Wild Game Cook-Offs have evolved over the years from a much smaller group of members and supporters gathering to eat to a major event setting huge attendance records!
Tickets to attend the AWF Wild Game Cook-Off are $35 for up to two adults, while youth under the age of 15 receive free admittance. The purpose of Alabama Wildlife Federation Wild Game Cook-Offs is to supply a place for Alabama Wildlife Federation members to interact, for non-members to learn more about the Alabama Wildlife Federation and to provide the opportunity to raise funds to support Alabama Wildlife Federation, its programs and projects. The cook-offs also demonstrate that sportsmen/women utilize the wild game and fish they harvest and cook it with care, skill and expertise to produce great table fare.
