DOUBLE SPRINGS - A vote was mixed by the Winston County Commission at their regular meeting Monday morning, Feb. 26, to levy a two mill tax on taxable property for hospital and public health purposes. Commissioner David Cummings cast the yes vote, but Commissioner Bobby Everett voted no, saying he thought the issue should require a vote of the county. Cummings stated the issue was done legally, after the commission received an Attorney General's opinion last week giving them the go-ahead for approval. The tie vote was broken by Chairman Roger Hayes voting yes.
