Teacher honored by Mark Forester Foundation

HALEYVILLE - Lauren Tinker, representing the Mark Forester Foundation, made a special presentation at the regular meeting of the Haleyville Board of Education Tuesday, Feb. 27, presenting a framed picture of soldier Mark Forester--who died in the line of duty while serving in Afghanistan in 2010--to HCS teacher Denise Berry for her avid support and annual participation in the Mark Forester Race held in honor of Mark at the school campus.

The race, has not only included local people, but also soldiers, who arrive from different areas in tribute to Mark. The Mark Forester Foundation has raised $50,000 worth of scholarships for deserving Haleyville High School seniors the past eight years. In all, over $100,000 has been raised locally for the Foundation.
