Trophy case, patriotic mural honor Late Sr. Airman Mark Forester

HALEYVILLE - What began as an expansion of the Haleyville High School nurse's station thanks to state windfall monies has led to a multi-faceted project displaying student talent as a memorial to Sr. Airman Mark Forester, who was killed in the line of duty in 2010.

HALEYVILLE - A ceremony held at the flag pole at Haleyville Middle School on Tuesday, October 22,  set the stage for the dedication of the school's flag pole and a special monument named in honor of Senior Airman Mark Forester, who lost his life defending his country in Afghanistan in 2010.

Mark Forester Price of Freedom events set for Saturday, May 18

HALEYVILLE - The 9th annual Mark Forester Price of Freedom Race and Memorial Birthday Walk  will be Saturday, May 18, 2019.
The route  for the walk will begin and end at Haleyville High School.

The 28-mile walk will begin at 6 a.m. and take approximately 10-and-a-half hours. There will be staging areas every five to eight miles with water.

Mark Forester events keep growing

The 8th annual Mark Forester Price of Freedom races were conducted Saturday, May 19, at Haleyville High School. Pictured above are the winners in their respective age groups in the 1 mile fun run/walk, 5K, 10K and half marathon and some of the other participants: Hamsa Abusammoor, Champ Crocker, Brooke Paulson, Lewis Barber, Addisyn Stubbs, Hamza Abusamoor, Daniela Largo, Cody Whitten, Kirstie Voice, Michael Grimaldi, Bethany Davis, Mitch Smith, Alixandra Romero, Kesha Adamson, Mike Paulson, Michelle Paulson, Brandon Frazier, Brooke Yarbrough, Gary Aaron, Hanny Witt, Benjamin Sirrine, Jerrica Stambaugh, Charles Lyons, Pedro Bahena, Deanna Peek, Karen Monosky, Jordan Kelley and Mae Boyles. The day’s event are lead by organizer Lauren Tinker and a host of volunteers. SrA Forester was killed in 2010 in Afghanistan during active combat.

Teacher honored by Mark Forester Foundation

HALEYVILLE - Lauren Tinker, representing the Mark Forester Foundation, made a special presentation at the regular meeting of the Haleyville Board of Education Tuesday, Feb. 27, presenting a framed picture of soldier Mark Forester--who died in the line of duty while serving in Afghanistan in 2010--to HCS teacher Denise Berry for her avid support and annual participation in the Mark Forester Race held in honor of Mark at the school campus.
