Haleyville varsity baseball loses to Russellville 6-2

HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville varsity Lions got their offense going in the second inning, but the Russellville Tigers were able to pull away in the fourth inning, ultimately defeating the Lions 6-2 Tuesday, March 9.
Cooper McNutt drove in two runs in the second inning, but Russellville tied it back up in the top of the third.  
Gordon White led Russellville to victory on the mound. White went five innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out five and walking one. Rowe Gallagher and Casen Heaps entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Heaps recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Russellville.
Camden Smith took the loss for the Lions. The pitcher surrendered three runs on five hits over four innings, striking out three.
Dylan Kutis led the Lions with two hits in three at bats. Haleyville was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Hayden Armstrong had the most chances in the field with ten.
