ARLEY - The report of a male subject shooting a gun and a female subject possibly shot inside a car at Duncan Bridge Campground Jan. 22, led the Arley Police into an altercation with the subject in order to disarm him.
ARLEY - Renovations of the former bank building that will become the Arley Smith Lake Senior Outreach Center are set to begin soon, Bob Cooper told the Arley Town Council at its regular monthly meeting on Nov. 7.

ARLEY - Persistency from the Arley Police Department led to the arrests of two individuals on burglary and theft charges, as well as the recovery of over $2,000 worth of stolen items four hours after the incident occurred.

ARLEY - Responsibility comes with town council seats, since each one represents the people and taxpayers of the town. An empty seat came open in the Arley council with the passing of Jerry Goodwin, a long-serving advocate of Arley, on Jan. 2. At the monthly town meeting on Monday, Feb. 1, Brian Fincher was voted to fill the vacant seat. The oath of office was administered by Tammi Farley, the town clerk, and Fincher took over his duties immediately.
Goodwin took over the council seat after Fincher’s father, Kerry Fincher, retired.
Winston County Sheriff Horace Moore shows the new digital radios most law enforcement officers in Winston County will begin using Feb. 28.
WINSTON COUNTY - The Winston County Sheriff’s Office has announced that communications on both their hand-held and vehicle radios is being switched over from analog to digital, providing a much clearer means of communication, effective Feb. 28.
ARLEY - Senate Majority Leader Greg Reed has announced that the Town of Arley has received a grant from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs to be used for law enforcement needs.
ARLEY - The body of Jimmy Dean Miller, 83, of Arley - who was last seen on Thanksgiving - was discovered on the shore of Smith Lake in the area of County Road 4033.

ARLEY - ‘Smile for the camera’ is a phrase which pertains to the Arley Police Department in today’s time, since they have been wearing body cameras the past several years. The APD adopted a standard operating procedure for using them at the Arley town meeting Monday, Oct. 7.
