Tourism Department gives $100,000 for Looney’s Tavern restoration project

LAKESHORE - The former Looney’s Tavern complex - located off of Highway 278 east of Double Springs in the Lakeshore area - is gradually coming back to life, as more and more donations are being made toward renovations - including $100,000 allotted by the Alabama Department of Tourism this past week.

LAKESHORE - The rich history and heritage of the Looney’s Tavern Amphitheater and complex will no longer be a distant memory, now that it is being revived with endless plans for future development.

LAKESHORE - A revival is about to take place at the site which once housed Looney’s Tavern complex and amphitheater, and it is not a church meeting.

Looney’s Tavern severely vandalized


The front windows at the Dual Destiny Theater - part of the Looney's Tavern complex - are shattered, with vandals considered by police as the culprits.
DOUBLE SPRINGS - The complex which formerly housed Looney’s Tavern Amphitheater, a site which drew many tourists for several years, was most recently the site of at least $10,000 worth of vandalism, which is being actively investigated by the Double Springs Police Department.
