Winston County Schools receive $1 million in grant funding

County's entire school bus fleet now air conditioned


These empty bus seats will soon be filled, as buses will be on the road next week picking up and dropping off students for a new school year.
WINSTON COUNTY - As a new school literally rolls around the corner, the Winston County Schools system assures their fleet of buses is ready to roll, but that the public and students show follow important safety tips before the roadways become more crowded with the large yellow student carriers.

WINSTON COUNTY - Addison and Double Springs elementary schools will soon have received 30,000 packages each of Lysol® disinfecting wipes from Frontline Impact Project® thanks to Lysol’s® Here for Healthy Schools campaign. Each of the 60,000 packages contains 80 wipes, for a whopping total of 4,800,000 wipes, which are being shared with all county schools.

School systems virtual Thursday due to severe weather threat

WINSTON COUNTY - Both Haleyville City and Winston County school systems have announced a virtual day for Thursday, February 16, due to the threat of severe weather.  Students will not be on campus that day, but teachers will be there to assist students with virtual or online lessons. According to ABC Meteorologist James Spann, the severe weather is expected to enter the western portion of the state around noon on Thursday.
