ARLEY - A father, mother and their toddler are needing help getting back on their feet after escaping their burning home in the early morning hours of Friday, Jan. 14.
ARLEY - Having extra money to put toward other expenses, bills or groceries is a good thing. Thanks to efforts of the Arley Fire Department, homeowners in Arley will now be saving money.

ARLEY - Responsibility comes with town council seats, since each one represents the people and taxpayers of the town. An empty seat came open in the Arley council with the passing of Jerry Goodwin, a long-serving advocate of Arley, on Jan. 2. At the monthly town meeting on Monday, Feb. 1, Brian Fincher was voted to fill the vacant seat. The oath of office was administered by Tammi Farley, the town clerk, and Fincher took over his duties immediately.
Goodwin took over the council seat after Fincher’s father, Kerry Fincher, retired.
WINSTON COUNTY - Rural volunteer fire departments are often at the mercy of their communities when it comes to funding, meaning departments not financially supported by councils or towns are struggling to stay afloat.

WINSTON COUNTY - Although health officials are stressing the safety of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, which is now being offered in Winston County, some first responders are approaching the vaccine with reservation.

ARLEY - Also known as a wildland fire truck, a brush truck aids firefighters in beating down wildfires, along with other uses such as wrecks. At the Arley town meeting, Monday, June 1, Fire Chief James Rickett notified the town council the fire department has purchased a newer model brush truck.
