Winston County Sheriff's business office closed to public due to COVID

DOUBLE SPRINGS - The Winston County Sheriff’s Office is open and serving and protecting the people of Winston County, despite being stricken hard by COVID. Winston County Sheriff Horace Moore announced that the business office for the sheriff’s office is currently closed to the public due to both certified clerks within the office having COVID, with one currently hospitalized.

NAUVOO - A major drug distributor for the Nauvoo area who has clientele in Winston County has been taken off the streets, thanks to a partnership between sheriffs offices in Winston and Walker counties.

BLACK POND - A major drug distributor was taken off the streets after the Winston County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant, finding 1.4 grams of cocaine, 112 grams of methamphetamine and 2.9 grams of marijuana found.

Arrest made in assault

HELICON - An Arley man has been taken into custody on assault charges after he allegedly repeatedly beat his neighbor in the head and neck area with a blunt object, resulting in serious injuries, according to the Winston County Sheriff’s Office.

HALEYVILLE - An ongoing investigation of illegal drug activity in the area of Blake’s Curve on Newburg Road led to the arrest of a Haleyville man after 26 grams of methamphetamine were found on his person.
