ARLEY - The Town of Arley is lauding Juanita Culler, "The Banner Lady," for her dedication to, and hard work on behalf of, the town's military banner program with a proclamation and a reception in her honor.

Community rallies around police chief after house fire; donations needed

ADDISON - Addison Police Chief Luke Sheppard strives as an emergency first responder to help others but found himself and his family overwhelmed and needing help after losing their home to fire.

The town of Addison is coming to the aid of new Police Chief Sheppard and his family, after they lost all of their possessions in a house fire while they were on vacation.

“You always want to have the ability to help someone, but when you come into a situation like this, and it’s yours, there is not much help that you can provide,” Sheppard pointed out.

Rescue squad forms

ARLEY - Previous attempts to see an ambulance stationed on the east side of the county having failed, a non-profit organization called the Winston County Rescue Squad is being formed to provide 24/7 ambulance service to the area.

Town councils extend invitation to another ambulance service


Arley Fire Chief James Rickett, Helicon Fire Chief Neil Feist and Arley Fire Department Training Officer Brian Kuntz stand in the space that has been cleared in AFD’s vehicle bay for the ambulance that they hope will soon be stationed in Arley.

ARLEY - Both the Arley and Addison town councils voted this month to encourage an additional ambulance service to operate in their towns. Currently, the primary ambulance service operating in Winston County is Regional Paramedical Services (RPS).
