Deshler wins in extra inning over Haleyville

HALEYVILLE - Haleyville Lions stayed in it until the end, but Deshler pulled away late in a 4-3 victory on Saturday, Feb. 22. The game was tied at three, with Deshler batting in the top of the eighth when Brayden Buckner hit a solo homer.
Haleyville lost despite out-hitting Deshler seven to four.
Deshler opened up scoring in the second inning, when Logan James reached on a dropped third strike.
The Lions evened things up at three in the bottom of the seventh inning on an error that scored one run for Haleyville.

Garrett throws shutout against Deshler

HALEYVILLE - Kaleb Garrett didn't allow a single run as Haleyville Lions junior varsity defeated Deshler 6-0 on Saturday, Feb. 22, at HHS. Garrett allowed just one hit.
Haleyville pulled off the big victory without ever scoring many runs in an inning. The most they scored was two in the fourth.
The junior varsity got things started in the first inning when Brody Gravitt singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
Garrett was credited with the victory for Haleyville. He surrendered zero runs on one hit over five innings, striking out nine.

PHS boys and girls fall short against Deshler


Ally McCollum, the leading scorer for the PHS Lady Bears with 20 points, comes around a Lady Tiger defender.

BEAR CREEK - With 1:22 left in the basketball game, the Phillips High School She Bears had come back from a 25 points deficit at halftime against the Deshler Lady Tigers to be within five points of the lead on Tuesday, Nov. 27. The Lady Bears lost 58-69. The Phillips High School Bears lost by a score of 55-99 at home.
Ally McCollum led the Lady Bears scoring with 20 points, followed by Gracie Hallman, 15; Lexie Dishner, 7, Caitlin Martin, 6, Baily Bishop and Amber Markham with 5 each.
