BIRMINGHAM - The Addison High School Lady Bulldogs (49-15) came up one match short of the seventh straight state title Thursday, Oct. 31, at The Crossplex in Birmingham. But they did take claim to the state runner-up honor.
What is considered as an upset, G.W. Long (49-6), the team that eliminated the Winston County Lady Jackets from the tournament, defeated Addison three sets to one. Addison won the first match 25-18, but G.W. Long went three straight, 25-21, 25-22 and 25-15. This was Long’s first state volleyball title.
