Thalia Doan Cockrell, 82, passed away April 19, 2026, in Daphne after an extended illness. Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home of Fairhope assisted the family.
Born on November 14, 1943, the middle daughter of Gladys and Royal Smith, she was raised in Haleyville. She graduated from Haleyville High School in 1963. She was known for her strong work ethic and devotion to her family. She enjoyed quilting, shopping, thrifting, household projects, accounting, the beach and an occasional casino visit.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wayne “Chicken” Cockrell and her greatly missed sister, June Williams.
She is survived by her daughter, Amy White (Walter); her beloved grandson, Luke; her beloved sister, Joan Smith McDougal, as well as her wonderful nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend gratitude to her care team at Willowbrook Court, especially Sheree, Wendy and Dana and to Tara at Gentiva Hospice. A special thanks also to her friends from Double Springs, who loved and supported her through the years. The family takes comfort that she is finally at peace.
