The Haleyville City Pool opened Tuesday, May 29, for the 2018 summer season. Hours are Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Sunday, from 1-5 p.m. unless a private party has been booked for that day and then the pool will be closed to the public. Cost of admission to swim is $4, with two years of age or younger free. The Haleyville City Pool will hold swimming lessons June 25-29 for ages 5-8. Students must be five years old on the first day of classes. Cost is $30. Registration is underway until June 15. Classes will be held from 9 until 10 a.m. each day.
DOUBLE SPRINGS - Matthew Chambless, band director for Winston County High School and Double Springs Middle School, has announced his resignation, effective at the end of the current school year. Chambless has accepted an opportunity to become the next head band director at Simmons Middle School in Hoover, where he is from originally.
