George Chambers

George Floyd Chambers, 81, of Double Springs, passed away Monday, August 10, 2026 at Walker Baptist Hospital from complications stemming from treatment for dementia.

My father touched more lives than I ever knew, and I am continuously honored to find this out again and again. I always knew him as one to shy away from thanks. Though whether this has been to spare himself and the ones for whom he did countless favors the embarrassment of feeling "in need of help," or if it simply made it easier for him to escape before being paid, I'll likely not know 'til I ask him. To the men, and the admiration for, embodying a virtue so thoughtlessly that we can only be left with the notion "well, that's just the way we ought to act," and to the women who have always done the same, albeit in silent resolve: May your hearts know the fullness in gratitude that the righteous know in generosity, and there, may we all know together. Love Always.

His graveside service will be held Friday, August 14, 2026 at 10:30 am at Double Springs Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will be celebrating the life of "G.F.C."   Nichols Funeral Home will direct.

George is survived by a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Chanda; brother, Parkey and parents, Henry and Mary Rice Chambers.
